The Angels signed Mike Trout to a six-year $144.5 million contract extension that will keep him in Los Angeles and Anaheim through 2020. It's not exactly Miguel Cabrera money, but Trout now has a long term, multi-million dollar deal that lasts into his year 29 season. Trout will then become a free agent and still be younger than Cabrera was when he signed his $248 million extension. It's a great deal for both parties. Trout still gets big money and the Angels get a monster player for six years at roughly $24 million a year, including the first three years of his free agency eligibility. Trout was due to become arbitration eligible for the first time following this season so the extension wraps him up through his three arbitration years as well. It's a bit of a different move for the Angels, who recently have been signing Miguel Cabrera-aged players to Miguel Cabrera-sized deals. Now, while they overpay for the twilight years of Pujols and Hamilton, they could very well still be underpaying for the peak of Mike Trout. According to Bill Shaikin, the deal includes a no-trade clause, but does not permit Trout to opt out at any point. The extension kicks in next year, so Trout will only make $1 million this year, under the terms of the one-year deal he signed in February.

West Ham have signed Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta from Lyon for a club-record fee.
Paqueta moves to east London from Lyon for a reported £36.5million (€43m) fee in a deal that is said to also include a further £14.4m (€17m) in potential add-ons.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with an option for further year. Paqueta had previously been linked with a reunion with former Lyon team-mate and fellow Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle United.
However, he will now be a rival to his compatriot after becoming West Ham s eighth signing of the transfer window.
