Kane ´playing for himself´ at Euro 2024, says Aluko

Eni Aluko believes Harry Kane is somewhat playing for himself at Euro 2024, as she urged the England captain to stay upfield rather than dropping deep.

Kane, who scored in England s 1-1 draw with Denmark, has been starved of opportunities so far, with the Three Lions attack struggling to spark.

The Bayern Munich forward, who scored 44 goals for the Bundesliga giants across all competitions in 2023-24, has had eight shots at the tournament, accumulating 1.06 expected goals (xG).

And former Lioness Aluko, who is a pundit for ITV Sport, suggested Kane, who has managed just 10 touches in the opposition box in total, is dropping too deep, to the detriment of Gareth Southgate s team.

Speaking to Stats Perform at the Home of Adidas football in Berlin, Aluko said…

Rio 2016: Revenge not a factor for Brazil, insists Micale

Brazil coach Rogerio Micale dismissed any talk of revenge over Germany for his nation when they meet in the final of the men s Olympic football.

Saturday s decider at the Maracana has been talked about as a chance for Brazilian redemption following their 7-1 defeat at the hands of Germany in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup on home soil.

But not even Neymar, the man under pressure to deliver a first ever football gold for the host nation, was part of that team in Belo Horizonte as he missed out through injury.

That was the World Cup. This is the Olympic team, Micale told a media conference.

Neymar never played in that match so there is nothing that could generate any type of feeling that we have to take revenge. It is a different time with differen…

Parma 2-1 AC Milan: Promoted hosts savour famous victory

Promoted Parma pulled off a shock 2-1 home victory over AC Milan in Serie A on Saturday.

Defeat for Milan, their first against Parma in the top-flight since 2014, extended Paulo Fonseca s wait for his first win as coach of the Rossoneri.

Parma stunned Milan with an early opener through Dennis Man, who struck with his first touch after 84 seconds, having also netted on the opening weekend of the season.

Man is the first Parma player to score in the first two matchdays of a Serie A season since Alberto Paloschi in 2009-10.

Christian Pulisic equalised for Milan in the 66th minute after Rafael Leao fed a low pass into the path of the American winger, who finished from close range.

But, after being set up by fellow substitute Pontus Almqvist, it was Ma…

Euro 2008 semi-finalists decided: Who’s HOT and who’s NOT, volume 4!

Day sixteen of the Euro 2008 tournament saw the long awaited quarter-final between the exciting, young and in form Spain side and the dull, old and out of form Italians.

The game turned out to be a major disappointment for anyone other than the most fanatical connoisseur of the game who may possibly have squeezed some enjoyment out of the defensive qualities of the Italians. For the neutral fan, it was simply the most negative display that you could imagine and one that seemed designed to take the game to a penalty shoot-out.

The tactic worked, but Spain won the shoot-out which was probably for the good of football as a whole.

With the quarter-finals now completed it is time to look at who is HOT and who is NOT, so far in the competition. Have the award winners …

Morocco v Croatia: 2018 finalists out to provide indication of Qatar 2022 intentions

Recent history suggests the outcome of Croatia s World Cup Group F opener against Morocco on Wednesday will give a good indication as to how far they can go at Qatar 2022.

After all, Croatia have lost their opening match in three of their five appearances at the World Cup, and on those occasions they failed to get out of the group.

In the two exceptions, they found themselves among the last four, with Zlatko Dalic guiding Croatia all the way to the final four years ago, ultimately losing to France.

While they may have been a little Jekyll and Hyde in nature in the past, there is undoubtedly an underlying feeling of confidence ahead of the matchday one encounter with Morocco at Al Bayt Stadium, the scene of Qatar s 2-0 defeat to Ecuador on Sunday.

FIFA candidate Sheikh Salman denies investigating athletes in 2011 protests

FIFA presidential candidate Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa has emphatically denied involvement in investigating and prosecuting athletes during democracy protests in Bahrain in 2011.

Sheikh Salman, president of the Asian Football Confederation, joined the race to replace outgoing FIFA boss Sepp Blatter prior to the Monday deadline for submissions for candidacy.

However, the former head of the Bahrain Football Association has faced criticism from human rights groups since announcing his intention to stand.

The 49-year-old is a member of Bahrain s royal family, who have been regularly condemned over allegations of oppression of pro-democratic demonstrations and the use of torture.

An article in British newspaper The Guardian cited a 2011 Bahrain…

Week 10 NFL Parlay Picks: There's No Contesting George Kittle

Week 9 was one of the more unpredictable weeks in recent memory with huge upsets and a lot of head-scratching results. Underdogs went 7-6 straight up and reminded us how humbling betting a sport like this can be.

Bears vs Packers SNF Prop Bets: Dillon Will Be the Beneficiary of Packers' Offense

The Green Bay Packers took Week 1 on the chin but get a chance to dismantle a divisional rival in the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field Sunday night.

The Bears’ Week 1 victory over the 49ers isn’t moving the needle for me, and this Green Bay team under new offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is going to lean on the run. It’s going to be A.J. Dillon who finishes with more touches in the Green Bay backfield.

Here are my free NFL player prop picks for Sunday Night Football between the Bears and Packers.

Cowboys vs Panthers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 11: Fade Dak & Co. On the Road

Two teams on opposite ends of the NFC food chain collide in Week 11 odds, with the Dallas Cowboys laying double figures when they visit the Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

The NFL odds have set Dallas as 10.5-point road chalk, marking the second straight week the Cowboys have been double-digit favorites. They made good as 17.5-point home faves in Week 10, blasting the New York Giants and improving favorites of -10 or higher to 8-2 ATS on the season.

Meanwhile, Carolina has just one win to its name at 1-8, and its record against the spread isn’t much prettier.

The Panthers enter Week 11 at 1-6-2 ATS but enjoyed a mini-bye after losing last Thursday. That means they could have some extra bodies back on defense in time to battle Dallas’ high-oct…
